Auction Ninja: A Design Concept
I’ve been working on a design concept called Auction Ninja, an online marketplace for estate sales and auctions, from browsing featured luxury lots through checkout.
Concept work is a different muscle than client work. There’s no stakeholder handing you constraints, so you have to invent honest ones: who is this buyer, what do they need to trust before they bid, what does an auction listing have to communicate at a glance? Estate sales turned out to be a fun design problem. The inventory is one of a kind, the photography varies wildly, and urgency is built in because every listing ends.
The pieces I enjoyed most were the listing cards, which have to make a diamond ring and a duck decoy feel like part of the same marketplace, and the balance between editorial warmth and utility in the browsing experience.
The full concept is on the project page.
